Barco
Model: ClickShare CX-50
Barco has developed quite a name across the country: the police and emergency services rely on Barco technology, our screens are a common sight at medical centres and hospitals and shopping centres like DLF use our billboards to attract customers, while the power supplies feeding all these screens are monitored on Barco equipment. Nonetheless, India is still peppered with historical monuments, forts and temples that bring the past to life. So prepare for a unique experience that combines the old world with some of the most incredible technology of the new one!
The Gateway to India
Is there any better place to start your tour than the Gateway to India? Built on reclaimed land, the Gateway was originally designed as a ceremonial entrance to the country. The 25-metre-tall structure has become one of the most famous features of Mumbai, a must-see attraction for tourists, a meeting place for locals and the Ministry of Tourism has partnered with Barco Mumbai to display some incredible visual-mapping projections.
Religious heritage
Throughout your travels in India, you’ll notice the incredible religious heritage. There may be no better place to see it than the Ellora Caves. This incredible series of temples has been built from natural rock formations. Demonstrating a variety of styles of artwork, many depict the deities and mythologies that characterise the religions the temples are dedicated to. It’s a truly incredible sight to see.
Hustle and bustle
Before you even arrive in New Delhi, you’ll notice the incredible hustle and bustle. The capital city is home to more than 26 million people, making it the most densely populated in the world. The busy streets, chaotic traffic and pollution are at complete odds to the beautiful and meticulously designed Lodi Gardens or the spectacular grandeur of the Red Fort, once a residence of Mughal emperors and an breath-taking display of creativity. But to truly relax, there’s no better place than the PVR Cinemas. Barco screens and immersive sound technology are perfectly suited to the spectacular tales, colours, dancing and excitement that characterise Bollywood films.
Taj Mahal
Almost 500 years old, the Taj Mahal attracts an incredible seven million visitors every year. And you’ll soon see why. It’s utterly spectacular. The minarets and vaulted dome are architecturally breath-taking. Inside and outside, the decoration, featuring calligraphic and vegetative motifs, is incredibly detailed, yet still proportionally refined to suit the surface area. The Persian and Mughal gardens are works of art in themselves. But the most phenomenal aspect of the Taj Mahal is the love story behind its creation: Shah Jahan built the enormous mausoleum to house the tomb of his beloved wife.
The final stop
Before waving goodbye to India, make sure you visit Science City in Kolkata. It has a simple mission: to interest the general public in science. And it goes to incredible lengths to make its subject matter interesting. For example? The Science Exploration Hall. With the help of eight Barco projectors, it brings the evolution of mankind to life in a spectacular 360-degree view. There’s also the large-format theatre. It was the first ever built in India. As such, you see scientific evolution in the subject matter and in the way it’s presented: a mix of time long since past and the opportunities prevalent today. It’s a truly fascinating and undeniably inspirational.
Make sure you keep an eye on our newsroom. Although we will be leaving India, we won’t be leaving Asia: our next article is focused on the APAC region. It’s a unique area full of incredible cultural treasures. Make sure you don’t miss out!
