AMX Escalates Focus on Government Technology Market, Forms Specialized Unit
RICHARDSON, Texas – April 20, 2010 – AMX®, the leading provider of solutions that simplify the implementation, maintenance, and use of technology to create effective environments, today announced that veteran sales and marketing executive John Hanby has been named Vice President of Government Sales, reporting to AMX Vice President of U.S. Sales and Global Marketing Walt Megura. Hanby will lead strategic sales and business development initiatives designed to expand AMX's revenue growth and leadership presence in the government market.
Hanby has over 20 years experience in business development and sales concentrated in Federal Department of Defense, Civilian, Intelligence businesses, and global corporate accounts while serving in senior leadership positions with companies such as Dell, Lockheed Martin and TRW. At AMX, Hanby will apply his proven industry expertise to help develop the company's recently formed government sales unit, forge strategic business partnerships, and expand sales to federal, state and local agencies.
Prior to joining AMX, Hanby was Vice President of Global, Government & Education Sales for Austin, TX-based PGi, where he won key Government and global accounts and established strategic business partnerships. Prior to that, Hanby served in various senior leadership roles at Dell, Inc., rising to the position of Director of Sales. During his tenure at Dell, Hanby lead the Department of Defense & Intelligence sales team from $145 million to $1.1 billion in annual sales in under three years. As Director of Acquisition for Large Corporate Accounts and Global Accounts, Hanby led his team to win many Fortune 500 customers. He was awarded Dell "Sales Director of the Year for the Americas," and consistently exceeded sales objectives.
