Scheduled to hit the screens on 29 January, Po’s ‘legendary adventures of awesomeness’ continue in Auro 11.1 immersive sound – including the Chinese dubbed version of the movie.
Created both in China and the US
What makes this third installment so unique? It’s the first co-production between DreamWorks Animation and Oriental DreamWorks – DreamWorks’ new Shanghai-based company – and the first of its kind in animation history.
DreamWorks’ US and China teams have worked in tandem and have combined their expertise to ensure a unique storyline and production that resonates with global audiences.
Greater authenticity
Kung Fu Panda 3 has been animated to be lip-synched in two versions: Mandarin and English and won’t be released as a subtitled English-language movie in China. In short, a recipe for success with the Chinese audience!
DreamWorks Animation’s CEO, Jeffrey Katzenberg, commented that the movie was made with a new degree of detail, made possible by ‘methodical and predictable’ technological progress. 60 million hours rendering time were needed for the third movie, compared to 20 million for the first and 50 million hours for the second film.
The story
When Po’s long-lost panda father suddenly reappears; the reunited duo travels to a secret panda paradise to meet scores of hilarious new panda characters. But when the supernatural villain Kai begins to sweep across China defeating all the kung fu masters, Po must do the impossible – learn to train a village full of his fun-loving, clumsy brethren to become the ultimate band of Kung Fu Pandas!
