Event caps off month-long fundraising drive for the Movember Foundation
KITCHENER, Ont. – (November 19, 2015) – Christie® is proudly participating in the Movember Foundation’s annual Movember campaign, which challenges men to grow a moustache and women to support or commit to being active and MOVE each day of the month. A team of 12 men and women, dubbed the “Christachios,” are leading the fundraising charge at Christie’s Canadian headquarters in Kitchener, Ontario.
The Christachios will be hosting the third annual “Mo-Rodeo” on November 27 from 12-1 p.m. at theStampede Corral in Kitchener. This year, Christie has challenged the “Mo Bros” from Cambridge-based ATS Automation to a friendly competition to see who can ride the mechanical bull the longest. Brad Moore, host of The Morning Buzz on 107.5 DAVE ROCKS, will be the emcee for the lunchtime event.
“We’re excited to cap off Movember with a little friendly competition with ATS,” says Charlie Harland, Christachio team member and advanced product developer, mechanical, Christie. “The Mo-Rodeo has consistently been one of the largest and best fundraisers for Movember in Ontario, raising nearly $10,000 and selling over 600 tickets to the previous two Mo-Rodeos. This year we expect to greatly increase that number and raise even more money for men’s health – and have a little fun along the way.”
“The Mo Bros and Sistas of ATS have been active for the past four years. It is important to generate awareness and excitement around this cause and we believe the Mo-Rodeo will do just that. Over the past few years, ATS has raised considerable funds for the Movember Foundation and we believe the 2015 campaign will be our best yet! The Mo Bros graciously accept Christie’s challenge and we look forward to the competition,” says Tyler Angyal, ATS Movember Event Team Leader.
The Movember Foundation is the leading global charity raising funds and awareness for men’s health. Men and women sign up at Movember.com, and choose to grow, give or MOVE. Men start Movember 1st clean-shaven and grow a moustache for the month, or men and women can commit to MOVE every day during Movember. After signing up to grow or MOVE, participants get friends, family, or colleagues to donate to their efforts to change the face of men’s health.
“It’s great to see the Christie team come together in the name of men’s health,” said Jesse Hayman, Director of Community Engagement, Movember Canada. “Movember is all about having fun while doing good, and we’re excited to see the third annual Mo-Rodeo taking place.”
The Movember community has raised over $676 million, and has funded 1,000 programs in 21 countries to date. This work is helping men live happier, healthier, and longer lives through investing in four key areas: prostate cancer, testicular cancer, mental health, and physical inactivity.
Emcee Brad Moore says of the Mo-Rodeo, “We’re big supporters of Movember at 107.5 Dave Rocks, and we’re excited to be involved in such a successful event. The Mo-Rodeo is a great way to support the cause, grab lunch and watch Mo’s crashing off a mechanical bull. Where else can you do that!?"
Tickets are $20, with $15 from each donated to the Movember campaign, and includes a chili lunch. For more information, or to purchase tickets, contact the.mo.rodeo@gmail.com
