Suning Cinema opens “all Christie” RGB laser multiplex

XI’AN, China – Christie®, a global leader in digital cinema projection technologies, is pleased to announce that Suning Cinema has deployed its leading-edge RGB laser cinema projectors for all auditoriums in its new multiplex in Xi’an, Shaanxi province.

Located on the fifth floor of Zhengshang Financial Plaza in the city’s bustling Economic and Technological Development Zone, Xi’an Zhengshang Suning Cinema is the exhibitor’s first multiplex to be fully equipped with Christie RGB laser cinema projectors. It consists of 13 stylishly furnished auditoriums catered to the needs of discerning movie-goers, including two Dolby Atmos halls, two themed theatres, a VIP suite, a ScreenX auditorium and a children’s theatre with a total capacity of 1,232 seats.

Ten auditoriums are fitted with the Christie CP2308-RGBe cinema projector designed for screens up to 10 meters wide, while the remaining three auditoriums with larger screens are powered by the Christie CP2320-RGB cinema projector featuring Christie Real|Laser™ illumination technology that provides unmatched long-term stability and reliability. These highly advanced systems deliver astounding visuals, and offer greatly improved color and contrast for audiences.

"RGB laser projection offers the most expansive color gamut of any projection technology. This in turn increases perceived brightness, further enhancing the audience’s visual experience," said Liang Guo, CEO, Suning Cinema. "It is for these reasons that we have chosen Christie’s all-in-one RGB laser architecture for all auditoriums at Xi’an Zhengshang Suning Cinema. We believe that these state-of-the-art projection systems are key to boosting audience attendance, as well as Suning Cinema’s image as a trendy destination that provides exciting movie experiences for patrons from all age groups."

Peter Chen, executive director of Cinema Sales, Greater China, Christie, commented, "We’re delighted that Suning Cinema has chosen our advanced, yet affordable RGB laser projection systems for its new flagship multiplex in Xi’an to deliver spectacular visuals for movie-goers. The combination of RGB laser projection technology and our unique RGB laser optical systems dramatically improves performance and outperforms competing systems in their class. We look forward to working with Suning Cinema more closely as it continues to expand its footprint."

Christie’s line-up of DCI-compliant RGB laser cinema projectors, ideal for all screen sizes, are capable of projecting up to 55,000 DCI lumens of brightness, achieve greater than 95% of the Rec. 2020 color space, and feature superior contrast ratio performance versus other projection technologies. Their compact "all-in-one" form factor also facilitates a seamless installation into any booth. In particular, Christie’s RGB laser projectors with Real|Laser technology consistently delivers excellent image quality and brightness above DCI standards throughout their natural life.

Since their official launch, Christie’s RGB laser projectors featuring Real|Laser technology have been embraced by exhibitors around the world as the best replacements for lamp-based projection systems and new installations. In Asia, major cinema chains in Australia, China, Indonesia, Japan, Korea, Malaysia, Philippines, Taiwan and Thailand have deployed these systems in their mainstream auditoriums.
