SAO PAULO - Sabesp, the water and waste management company owned by the state of São Paulo (Brazil), has installed 144 Christie® LCD panels in its 14 control rooms located around the state. WPM Display supplied and integrated the project after a tender process.
Founded in 1973, Sabesp is a public-private entity responsible for water supply, and the collection and treatment of sewage in 367 municipalities in São Paulo. Sabesp is one of the biggest sanitation companies in the world in terms of the population it serves, supplying water to 27.9 million people and sewage services to 21.5 million people.
The 144 Christie FHD492-XB 49-inch panels, made and available exclusively in Brazil, were installed in 14 of Sabesp’s operation centres and used mainly to monitor and oversee applications that manage water and sewage systems, as well as project presentations and technical training.
"The client was looking to expand and modernize its control rooms in order to improve its operations and customer service," explained Fernando Morisco, Projects Manager, WPM Display, before adding, "with the installation of the new video walls, all operations can now be seen by Sabesp’s managers, supervisors and operators, thus facilitating the visualization of critical points and helping in the operative decision-making process."
"The project exceeds our expectations, not only in relation to the quality and performance of the products supplied, but also in terms of the advantages it has brought to our company," explains Anderson Vicente Catarino, Operation Division Manager, Sabesp. "The video wall technology allows better management of our processes, evolving the way we work while improving response time to the daily demands of our operations. Another highlight is the service and support provided by WPM; we are very satisfied with their efficiency," he adds.
Most of the video walls are arranged in a 6x2 layout (6.5 metres long by 1.2 metres high) and divided into three parts, each with four panels in a 2x2 configuration that functions independently.
Fernando Morisco explained why they decided on Christie LCD panels: "They ensure 24/7 operation, with excellent levels of brightness and a combined bezel of 3.5mm, which reduces the loss of content to be transmitted on the display. They also have an integrator kit which facilitates installation and the alignment of the panel within the group as a whole, even in areas of difficult access."
Morisco added: "The Christie FHD492-XB model offers excellent cost-benefit ratio for control room applications. Furthermore, it has all the physical features (combined bezel, brightness, operation time, redundant signal inputs, etc.) required by control rooms, and the operations interface and configuration is easy and practical, which makes the work of the video wall users much simpler."
The Christie FHD492-XB 49-inch LCD panel features full HD resolution, 450 nits, an ultra-narrow bezel and portrait or landscape orientation, in a budget-friendly package.
Fernando Morisco concluded: "We have been working with Christie products for almost ten years now. We have an excellent relationship with the Christie staff in Brazil, largely because of our mutual trust and their negotiating policies which are clear and transparent. We wish to underscore that in this project, André Ingnez –Sales Manager at Christie Brazil– and his team managed to meet all the delivery deadlines even in the midst of the current pandemic. I would also like to make a special mention for the support and assistance of the entire project team at Sabesp, as well as the fully committed team at WPM who were instrumental in the successful roll out of this project."
