SEOUL, Korea – (September 21, 2011) – Seventy-Two Christie® MicroTiles® have been installed on Level 1 of the passenger terminal at Incheon International Airport. Located in the center of the passenger terminal, the nine by eight array forms the back wall display of the Millennium Hall stage and displays promotional videos for International Expo Yeosu Korea 2012, an introduction video of Incheon airport, Korean cultural performances, and much more.
“This is an ideal location for passengers and visitors to experience the outstanding visual quality and unique modular feature of the Christie MicroTiles. This is not only a very central location, being right smack in the middle of the passenger terminal, but it is also the only space exposed to passengers from the second and third floors,” observed Henry Khang, general manager, Christie Korea.
According to Mr Joo Min-Don, general manager of Imtec, the distributor responsible for the provision, installation and technical support of installation, “each tile runs an average of 7 1/2 hours a day. Since the completion of the installation in August, we have not experienced any problems with the Christie MicroTiles.
“When we learned about the opportunity to deploy the Christie MicroTiles at Incheon International Airport, we were very excited as we can use this exposure at the airport to let more people experience the true qualities of the technology.”
“We are thrilled that Christie MicroTiles have been selected for a major airport,” said Lin Yu, vice president, Christie Asia Pacific. “When we first launched Christie MicroTiles in Asia, we identified airports as one of the main market segments because MicroTiles are a very suitable display choice for the spacious, high ambient light environments of airport terminals.”
In May, 170 Christie MicroTiles began operating at Malta International Airport, which, to date, is the biggest installation of Christie MicroTiles in a transportation hub.
