Haivision’s VF iControl™ iPhone®/iPad™ App Earns 2010 STAR Award From TV Technology

 TV Tech Star

MONTREAL and CHICAGO May 4, 2010 Haivision Network Video today announced that its VF iControl™ iPhone®/iPad™ application is the recipient of the 2010 STAR (Superior Technology Award Recipient) Award, presented by the editorial staff of TV Technology magazine at the 2010 NAB Show. The VF iControl app allows mobile device users to control recordings and apply metadata in real time as it is being recorded by Haivision’s Furnace IP video delivery system. In addition, with VF iControl users can immediately review recording on their mobile device and publish them to the Furnace Media Server VoD system for further secure review or playback anywhere.

“Every year, the NAB Show serves as the launching pad for thousands of new products and services for audio and video professionals,” said Tom Butts, TV Technology editor. “Our panel of editors walks the show floor in search of the most innovative technologies. The products and services that we select for the STAR Award make the cut — they demonstrate their ability to help advance the acquisition and distribution of entertainment and information across the media spectrum.”

Haivision’s Furnace IP video system provides a secure and performance-oriented end-to-end media delivery environment for live video distribution, video recording, and VoD. VF iControl allows users to control the Furnace system’s recording process, apply real-time metadata (HotMarks™) on the fly, review the resulting video recording on the mobile device, and publish the recording directly to the Furnace IP video system. The Furnace InStream™ video player lets authorized users on any computer, anywhere, review the video immediately, along with associated HotMarks. HotMarks also are displayed on the Furnace VoD scrub bar to provide fast access to specific content. This convenience and ease of use make VF iControl ideal for capturing, marking, and publishing video from medical procedures, medical skills, and other training simulations, lectures, military exercises, and sporting events.

“VF iControl allows Haivision customers to leverage their mobile devices to realize dramatic improvements in the speed, ease, and convenience with which they can view, enrich, and publish media,” said Peter Maag, senior vice president at Haivision. “This exciting new app is designed to provide intelligent control over intelligent video, and we’re honored that its innovative approach to handling live media has been acknowledged with a prestigious STAR Award.”

TV Technology’s STAR Award honors and showcases the outstanding technological innovations available to the broadcast industry. A panel of TV Technology editors and columnists reviewed a variety of products, examined the technical applications and their overall contribution to the industry, and then submitted their award nominees. TV Technology (www.tvtechnology.com) is the industry’s leading magazine for technology news and reviews and is celebrating its 27th year covering the television industry.
