Each year, the best of movie sound is recognized by the Academy Awards, the MPSE (Motion Picture Sound Editors) Golden Reel Awards, theBAFTA (British Academy of Film and Television Arts) Awards, and the CAS (Cinema Audio Society) Awards. Several long-time Meyer Sound users and studios equipped with Meyer Sound cinema loudspeaker systems have played a pivotal role in creating the engaging soundscapes in this year's nominated films. Congratulations to all of the nominees and winners!
Equipped with a system based around Meyer Sound Acheron screen channel loudspeakers, Warner Bros.' De Lane Lea Studios in London was the post-production facility behind the 7.1 mixes of "Captain Phillips" and "Gravity." The biggest blockbuster among the recognized films this year, "Gravity" was mixed in Dolby Atmos at Warner Bros. Studios in Los Angeles, equipped with HMS-12 cinema surround loudspeakers, as well as 500-HP subwoofers for surround low-end management.
"All Is Lost," "The Croods," "Despicable Me 2," and "Monsters University" were all mixed at Skywalker Sound in Nicasio, Calif. using Meyer Sound systems that include Acheron screen channel loudspeakers, HMS-10 cinema surround loudspeakers, and X-800 studio subwoofers.
