At the heart of Meyer Sound's EXP line of cinema products are the Acheron high-performance screen channel loudspeakers. The Acheron Designer is the most compact Acheron model in Meyer Sound's EXP line of cinema products. Optimized for installation behind perforated screens, the compact size, audio quality, and power of the Acheron Designer make it an excellent choice for sound designers, screening rooms, small commercial movie theatres, and private theatres.

Offering the same 37 Hz to 18 kHz operating frequency range as other Acheron models, and a generous 130 dB SPL peak output with very low distortion, the Acheron Designer renders the most demanding digital soundtracks with wide dynamic range and full fidelity.

The Acheron Designer uses the same patent-pending horn technology and high- frequency compression driver used in the Acheron Studio and Acheron 80/100 and provides exceptional translation from a compact screen channel to larger theatre screen channel systems. Designed specifically for cinema use, the Acheron Designer's horn features a very soft roll-off beyond its 80-degree horizontal by 50-degree vertical coverage pattern. The extremely well-behaved horn ensures an accurate acoustic crossover and a highly consistent vertical coverage pattern through the critical crossover range between the low and high drivers. The 580 Hz crossover point means most of the dialog signal comes from the horn (ideal for cinema applications).

Designed and manufactured at Meyer Sound's headquarters in Berkeley, California, the Acheron Designer's drivers include one 12-inch low-frequency cone driver in an optimally tuned, ported enclosure and one 4-inch high-frequency diaphragm compression driver. Both drivers yield uncompromising quality and are powered by sophisticated onboard amplification. The Acheron Designer's self-powered design not only ensures consistent results but also simplifies installation in both new and existing rooms.

A proprietary Meyer Sound two-channel amplifier powers each driver independently. Onboard signal processing includes driver protection, an electronic crossover, and correction filters, ensuring flat phase and frequency responses. Convection cooling of the rear-mounted, recessed heat sink allows Acheron Designer to be placed flat up against a wall, when necessary.

The optional RMSTM remote monitoring system allows comprehensive monitoring of system parameters on a Windows-based computer. Constructed of premium birch plywood, the Acheron Designer enclosure is coated with a low-gloss, black- textured finish. The Acheron Designer is fitted with two attachment points at the bottom of the cabinet that can be used for the optional MYA-DES cradle-style yoke.
