ViewSonic Announces Strategic Partnership with Cal State Dominguez Hills Esports Association

ViewSonic is the Official Monitor Sponsor for CSUDH Esports and will Provide Display Technology for the New Esports Incubation Lab

BREA, Calif. (October 15, 2021) – ViewSonic Corp., a leading global provider of display solutions announced today, its strategic partnership with California State University, Dominguez Hills (CSUDH) and the new esports Incubation Lab. This partnership is part of ViewSonic’s charitable work under the Empowering Future Generations initiative.

ViewSonic has committed to fully furnishing the new esports Incubation Lab at CSUDH, along with supporting other career development opportunities and activities. ViewSonic will supply the esports Incubation Lab with gaming monitors, large format displays, interactive whiteboards, and other equipment. Funding will also be provided to supply jerseys and other needed apparel for Esports Association members. In addition to providing equipment and apparel, ViewSonic will work with the Esports Association to develop an internship pipeline for CSUDH students, allowing them to transfer the skills they are learning in esports to the workplace. ViewSonic will also offer career day opportunities to CSUDH students and will provide support for other events and activities as they arise.

The global esports market is valued at $612 million, with an audience of 134 million, according to SuperData with some estimates as high as 1.084 billion.* Universities across the United States are expanding esports initiatives with scholarship programs and competitive teams and ViewSonic is humbled and thrilled to be a part of this growing, diverse community. ViewSonic has been an early advocate of esports and has set out to develop gaming monitors that are engineered with tournament-grade features to give students an edge as they compete.

"ViewSonic is committed to its ongoing community outreach efforts as part of our Empowering Future Generations initiative," said Kenneth Mau, product and channel director for ViewSonic Americas. "It is imperative we support students in developing life skills such as teamwork, collaboration, problem solving and social skills, and esports does that. We are excited to partner with CSUDH who shares the same holistic esports vision in education. We not only want to provide learning opportunities competitive gaming, but also a pathway to careers within the esports industry such as broadcasting, streaming, engineering, and game design. Within a short time, we have seen the value in esports and what it provides to so many students. Esports leagues can turn a student’s hobby into an opportunity for scholarships and careers in a growing and lucrative field, and we are happy to support these initiatives."

CSUDH Esports Association was developed in 2017 and currently occupies over 200 members. Members currently compete against other universities across the country and are quickly establishing a name for themselves. Beyond CSUDH Esports, there is a larger student strategy, providing students with a community, stability, opportunities, and further academic and career development. Along with equal opportunities and inclusion, esports develops youth that can have impressive lifelong effects.

"The CSUDH Community is grateful to be working with an industry leader like ViewSonic, who cares about putting students first," said Ruben Caputo, Esports Academic Advisor and General Manager. "The partnership collaboration will allow us to make an even bigger impact as we enter our brand-new Esports facility."

In announcing the partnership, CSUDH President Thomas Parham added, "This partnership is vitally important to CSUDH, because esports will be a critical element of our student engagement strategy going forward. We are looking for ways to keep students engaged and on track, while teaching them skills in coding, mathematics, science, and writing that will help them better manage the rigors of a university curriculum—skills they need to master on their way to preparing for the workforce. ViewSonic’s support will enable us to make sure our students have the tools they need to succeed while they’re here on campus, and after they graduate."

The CSUDH Esports Incubator Lab is currently under construction and is expected to be completed by Spring 2022. On October 15, during the CSUDH Grand Opening, the esports program will be digitally unveiling the new Esports Incubator Lab.
